Turns out my brother was having a party with a group of his good friends in Lyle the day we were scheduled to begin our road trip to California. We spent the day in 90 degree weather, swimming in the Klickitat River and barbecuing. Great times!
The next day we drove to Bend, where we met some friends I hadn’t seen in many years- Chas and Carlin. We spent a great evening on their deck eating an excellent meal and sharing life events. Luckily for us, we were able to meet their new daughter. What a great time!
The next morning we drove to Crater Lake (I only went over 100 mph once) and had a nice lunch at the lodge.
And proof that we actually did make it to California. But the first night we stayed at Mount Shasta and had the thrill of meeting “Whiskey Sour”. That’s a story to be told later.
We arrived in San Francisco, checked into our Union Square hotel and promptly met up with my cousin Stacy and her boyfriend, Art. Unfortunately we didn’t get any photos, but we had an amazing dinner and really enjoyed their company.
The next day we walked down to the embarcadero and had breakfast at the Ferry building. Then we walked to Fisherman’s Wharf and rented a tandem bike. A huge, heavy tandem bike that we promptly rode to Sausalito and back. Then we walked back to Union Square. It was a beautiful, fun day.
The next morning we drove to Morgan Hill and stayed with our friends Ben and Kris. We had great homemade pizzas, swam in the pool and had a few cocktails. It was a great night. Golf the next day checked all the boxes on the trip, so we headed north. Thanks to everyone for the hospitality and friendship. Couldn’t ask for more.
…to the top!
